I am thrilled to share with you the official release of reDesign’s Future9 Competencies – a free, open-source framework that defines nine essential skill sets for preparing young people to navigate, and help shape, our future world. The framework draws on more than a decade of collaboration with schools, districts, and state leaders, alongside extensive research reviews, and feedback sessions with academics, young people, and industry leaders.

The Future9 Competencies were inspired by questions we continue to hear in the field, even more so now as we navigate our post-pandemic world: What is the learning that matters most to becoming future ready? And how do we measure progress toward that vision– in consistent, transparent, and meaningful ways for young people?

We hope this framework is a valuable resource to you – whether by sparking inspiration for your own community’s competencies, or by lifting the research and design burden involved in developing actionable, future-ready learning and assessment tools. We are so eager for your feedback.
